Former Brockway Mayor Angelo "Peppy" Martino, 77, 1665 E. Main St., Brockway, died Thursday, March 26, 2009, at DuBois Regional Medical Center.
Born January 8, 1932, in Brockway,
he was a son of the late Carlo F. and Antonina LaSalandra Martino.
He was married to Gloria L. Bona June 26, 1954. She survives.
He was an insurance agent for Prudential Insurance for 31 years.
He served two terms as mayor of Brockway and was active in politics most of his life.
He was also active in Kiwanis International and the Brockway Recreation Board.
He was a member of St. Tobias Church in Brockway.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the 36th Missile Battalion at Ft. George G. Meade in Maryland from 1955-57.
He is also survived by a son, Michael A. Martino of Rochester, N.Y.; two daughters, Mrs. Dennis (Annette) M. Skraba of DuBois and Andrea C. Martino of Laurel, Md.; a brother, Carlo F. Martino of Somerville, N.J.; and five grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Josephine Avallone and Emma Ciccarelli.
MARTINO: Angelo "Peppy," 1665 E. Main St., Brockway, died March 26, 2009. Friends will be received from 7-9 p.m. Saturday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the Carlson-Shugarts Funeral Home in Brockway.
A Vigil service will be held at 8:45 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Tobias Church in Brockway with the Rev. Msgr. Charles Kaza and the Rev. Msgr. George Adams co-celebrants.
Burial will be in St. Marys Cemetery in Reynoldsville. Memorial donations may be made to the Intensive Care Unit at DRMC, the DuBois Area Catholic Schools or the Susquehanna Rural Free Clinic Inc. in Frenchville.
