Overview

From the perspective of technology: Richard Martino started college as a physics major because physics is the basis of all other sciences and engineering and he could easily learn those other disciplines when the need arose. Then, because physics requires so much math, he also received a degree in math. He minored in computer science because, in his words, “computers are fun.”

From the perspective of leadership: He joined Toastmasters in 1978 in order to improve his communication and leadership skills, and was a continuous active member for 25 years, founding five new Toastmaster clubs. Noting that effective leaders are first effective communicators and teachers, he also jumped at teaching opportunities in industry and academia. Finally, he voraciously reads any book or web site on psychology, personality and leadership.
